Sleek, shining tresses and flawless makeup? Totally the order of the day for Heather Graham at the 2008 National Board of Review of Motion Pictures Awards Gala in New York on January 14. She paired her gathered red silk halter gown with a cerise lip and rose eyeshadow, finishing the look off with a gorgeous arm cuff for a look that was part Grecian goddess, part rocker chick. The end result? Heather has come a long way since her time as Mercedes in License to Drive!

HAIR:
To get the shiny tresses seen on Heather, you'll want to give yourself the sleekest blowout possible. Start by pinning your hair up in sections -- front, side and back -- so that you can blowdry each one equally. Before blowdrying each section, apply a bit of smoothing lotion like Blow Straight to the Point ($20 at blowstylingsalon.com) to make it as straight and sleek as possible.
Use a nozzle while blowdrying to concentrate the air. My favorite hairdryer is the T3 Evolution Dryer ($300 at t3micro.com), which not only gets tresses sleek and shiny but cuts drying time in half. Blowdrying with a round brush will help as well.
Finish by spritzing a bit of shine spray on your hair to lock in shine and reduce frizz. Try Oscar Blandi Jasmine Shine Spray ($22 at beauty.com), which is formulated with jasmine and olive oils to create a glossy finish.
COMPLEXION:
A bit of pink blush dabbed right on the apples of your cheeks will give you the glowy, dewy look seen on Heather. Try Sephora Blush Me! Mono in Rose Rebelle ($10 at sephora.com), a pretty pale pink powder that you can blend easily into the apples.
EYES:
A bit of rose eyeshadow accented with black liner and long lashes is grown-up yet still really soft and pretty. Start by sweeping a pink shadow like Guerlain Divinora Pearly Cream-to-Powder Eyeshadow in Perle de Rose ($26 at sephora.com) across your lid, stopping right at the crease. While it's a cream shadow, it dries matte so you'll get the silky finish seen on Heather.
Next, line your upper and lower lashlines with a black liner like Stila Kajal Eye Liner in Onyx ($18 at beauty.com). Draw a thin line along the upper and lower waterlines so it doesn't look too dark or thick, but accents your eye just enough.
Finish with three coats of a black mascara that will curl, thicken and lengthen your lashes. Try CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Blasting Mascara in Very Black ($7.49 at walgreens.com), which will thicken and lengthen lashes more and more with every coat.
LIPS:
While Heather's lips look glossy, she's actually wearing a creamy lipstick. Look for one that has moisturizing properties so your lips will look glossy and shiny for hours. Slick on a lipstick like Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick in Rose Culte ($34 at yslbeautyus.com), which not only is the perfect shade of raspberryish cerise but even has SPF 15 to protect your pout.
